Micro Gods, Tennis, Building a Moroccan Water Feature . . . . . And Newt Spicy Pickle

Today was very hot indeed possibly the hottest day of the year and I think we reached 30C which is something that does not happen that much in the UK, Dad is pleased of course because it means that the Solar Panels on the roof are generating loads of electric and we also have panels for hot water so today we have had more hot water than we know what to do with. Strangely however it was not the best day to work on the construction of a posh Moroccan patio garden, as I was building a raised water feature that will be painted Moroccan blue and may have a rather flash stainless steel cascading waterfall, dropping  down into the present pond. Apparently it can’t be like Niagara Falls because it will make the Newts deaf; Newts are protected in the UK to stop the public making jars of Newt Spicy Pickle which became very popular and almost saw the complete destruction of the little critters in the wild. As it is you can’t buy a jar of Newt Spicy Pickle anywhere now it is as if it never existed much like grass-snake soup and bat fritters all lost to the foibles of modern conservation.

Anyway I have finished all the concrete work now, and it was rather nice to be able to sit out in the evening sun in a half complete Moroccan patio garden having our evening meal and listening to the Castle of the Bishops Samba Band as their drumming drifted across the mile or so towards us on the wind.

Finally I have to say that here in Britain we are reaching the highlight of the tennis season Wimbledon, I am not a fan of tennis but I believe we have a Scotsman in the men’s final tomorrow so all I can say is COME ON TIM. It was the women’s final today which I think was won by a woman. As it happens these things are less sportsman like than you might think because who wins what and when is all in the Hands of Professor Maddos A Hattar the Micro God of Sport and his cat. . . . . . . Anyway my money is on the Grumpy Scotsman in the final tomorrow although I will not watch it; I might go and pickle a few newts……

  1. oooooo yes I am sorry about the drawing of Professor Maddos A Hattar the Micro God of Sport and his cat, he rather looks like he is from out of the Simpsons, that was not meant to happen...

  2. Aha Rob,

Ah yes, it be hot. It's almost three thirty in the morning and it's still warm. I even had the fan on. As in the electric type.

Why doesn't Andy Murray have a Scottish accent? In tennis, "love" means nothing at all. I dread to think what they mean when the guy says, "new balls, please."

Enjoy Sunday. Hot in Britain? Somebody pinch me.

    Gary :)

    1. Very hot in Britain, and I am slight sun burnt as I have been working outside. This time last year we were knee deep in rain.

I sadly don't think Mr Murray gets to spend a lot of time back home

  3. I wonder if the demise of the Newt Spicy Pickle coincided with the demuse of the New Kids on the Block and the Spice Girls. I would guess the answer is maybe. Or it may be not.

The evening ended disasterously, weLL, no body died but somebody I know is in jail. We wiLL just have to wait to see what the judge does tomorrow, even though its a Sunday and judges I think are known for doing nothing on Sundays. Oh, I looked at the clock and it is now a few minutes into Sunday, so there is a bit of unknown in this comment as to where the intersmashional date line is in this comment as to which part is Sat material and which is Sun. I am terribly sleepy so, good morning instead of saying 'good night'. -yawn-

    1. I went back and finished reading the rest of the blog post, and I was wondering if the object in the right part of the picture is s'pposed to be a vertebrae column (?), I wasn't sure, it looks kinda science-y.

    2. I am not sure it is good to make a judge work on a Sunday, he may be a bit grumpy if he has been dragged away from dinner.

New Kids on the Block and the Spice Girls were not my idea of fun and by putting a newt in each ear I could never hear them they were neutralized newt-ralized HAH HHAHAH HHAH HAH HAH AH HAHAH HAHH AHHAHHAHAHHH HAH.

AH yes that is my attempt to draw a science-y thing.... I draw with a ball point pen so there is never any going back once I start drawing. An error must be built into the drawing and the more I draw the greater the risk of ruining the drawing. Luckily so far I have always sorted out little mistakes.

  4. I'm not following the tennis at all, I'm really not interested! I'd rather play it myself than watch other people :)
It's been super hot here too, a little too hot for me! I'd better get used to it, I'm sure it'll be hotter in Spain.

    1. It is rather too hot for me too Miss Laura and yes it may well be hotter in Spain, so make sure you take a good sun cream. Sun burn can be very nasty and ruin a holiday.

  5. I went out for a delightful walk on Saturday, and I came across a lizard. A lizard! Here in Britain! I never thought I'd see the day.
