So it is all over and we
have a Conservative government with a narrow overall majority. Well that was
not meant to happen and that is for sure, and I am not pleased. As I have
previously mentioned I am politically slightly on the left. You know the sort
of stuff . . . We are all equal, should have the same opportunities in life,
large important infrastructures such as the railways, Power companies and the
like should be run by the government for the benefit of the country and not for
the profitable gain of a few very wealthy folk.
Ideas like that are out of
favour with the masses these days and it is easy for political parties to
appeal to those deep dark paranoid thoughts we all have. . . You know . . . He has more than I do, and I work harder. All those unemployed folk are living in big
houses and having holidays while I slave away 372 hours a week on a zero contract.
The other party will tax me to death. Britain is full
of folk from strange foreign lands that get all sorts of stuff for free and we
don’t. It will rain more if they are in
power, and so on
We also had the added
political hint that all those Scottish politicians would run the country and
make folk wear kilts, eat deep fried Mars bars and set fire to Viking ships in
the English countryside while singing Flower of Scotland and drinking Whiskey.
The result is the masses
have all moved towards the political right in England ,
while the folk of Scotland
unhappy at the English demonizing them have all voted for the Scottish
Nationalist Party; sticking two fingers up at all the main political
parties. As A Scot living in England
I understand why. . . You see we are not nasty Fire Breathing Monsters who wave
swords and fight in the streets on Saturday night (OK OK a few are . . . OK yes
quite a lot are).
Anyway
the Labour Party leader has resigned, the Liberal Democratic Leader has
resigned and so has the UKIP leader although he did say he might return (maybe
in a bit). The Conservatives are all keen, happy and smiling, but I think they
have forgotten one small point that may cause a few problems. They have
promised loads of stuff like free ice cream for everyone, and a pet duck for
all households with small children and loads of other stuff. I think they
thought they would be in coalition or in a minority government so would be able
to blame the others for not achieving their goals. Only they have won (AAAAuuuuugggHHHH)
and now have to do what they promised and some of it will not be easy. . . . .
That is a lot of ducks they need to find.
I can hear folk shouting DUCK even as I type
Hi Rob,
ReplyDeleteAfter this election travesty, where folks voted for a party that will take delight in crapping on them, gives me the urge to go move to Scotland.
I believe it's an awful day in UK politics. Duck and cover.....
A peaceful weekend to you, good sir.
Gary
Scotland is a wonderful place to live Mr G. . . OK its a bit windier, wetter and has a very long cold winter. But they have great cake shops and the food in general is brill. . . (OK its unhealthy).
DeleteI have spent some time thinking about the voting overall and have concluded at least half the public are mad. And I dont even mean the Tories. I can see why some selfish rich bloke will vote Tory, but it appears that some ex Liberal Democrat voters are voting UKIP ????? and stuff like that ?????.
We have several mad (in both ways) people in Texas, who are upset about Jade Helm 15.
DeleteDamn stupid people. Don’t they know what’s coming?
ReplyDeleteIt was always on the cards that we’d keep our MP (he’s not really that bad except for being Tory and not caring if Shrewsbury Hospital gets dismantled little by little) but I’d have thought that there’s be hope for other constituencies.
It’s enough to make me puke and relocate to Germany.
And all those people who followed their consciences and voted for parties which never stood a chance; come on, what are you after? The same misery over and over again?
Oh Rob, see you at SpArC for Man and Superman. I’ll be the one weeping uncontrollably.
I do think folk should vote for who they believe in rather than tactical vote or we will never escape the two party politics of the Tories or Labour. The problem though is that it will still take many many years to change the system. Ironically I might be slightly better off with the Tories in power (maybe) but I would rather have a better and fairer society. O well they have a lot to live up to if they plan to actually do what they said they would in their manifesto, and I will shout if they dont.
DeleteDoes Friko plan to puke before or after getting to Germany? The last thing they need is more germs among many in Germany.
DeleteYes, soon the country wiLL be aLL ducked up, ducks almost everywhere. I know my friend in Indianapolis would enjoy the ducks. I realized the other day that I know one person in certain distants states, only one, in Delaware, Utah, Indiana, Arizona and Minnesota. I know two people in Washington state but one of them has been in London for quite some time, so I don't know whether to include that state. No wait, I forgot there is another person in Washington from Idaho, so forget Washington. Oh, California, yes, I think I only know one person in that state. Hmmm, New York might be another One People state too.
ReplyDeleteAmerica is bigger than Britain and the people are more spread out making it harder to know folk who are not close (geographically). In Britain we are closer together (geographically) but the British dont talk to strangers even if they are in the same room (OK that might just be me) so we never get to know anyone, but we like cats and dogs a bit.
DeleteWe should build an internet for dogs and cats. I have a few ideas. I wiLL think about how it could be implemented with some controls.
DeleteI decided that I know one person in New York state. I think Tennessee counts as a 2 1/2 person state. In Tennessee I know 2 people veRy weLL and then there is another person that my cousin teLLs me about from time to time, and my cousin teLLs him about me, but I don't talk directly to that person or know what they look like, so therefore I came up with the 1/2 designation.
An internet for Dogs and Cats would have to include a PAWS button... . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . .HAH AH HA HAH AH HA HHA HA HAH AH AH HA HAHAH AH AH HA H HAHA HAH AH AH HHAAH AH AHAH HA HAh ah aha ha hahahah ah ha aha ha hah a ha ha ha ha ha h aha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha h aha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha h ahah ahaha ha ha h a ha . . . . .
DeleteAnd a CLAWS button, hahahahahaha, hold it, that's not fuNNy. Thinkthinkthink PAWS, hahahahahahahahahaha
Delete:)
DeleteI was also horrified by the election result and also a little bit scared for the country. The result in Scotland was very interesting. I was sort of expecting the SNP to do very well, but it still came as a surprise to see just how yellow we've gone!
ReplyDeleteCait @ Click's Clan
It will be extremely interesting to see how the next five years pan out. I am just glad I live in a rather idyllic rural location and old enough to be able to chill a bit.
DeleteInteresting news about ballot papers being stolen, or those being sent out that didn't include Labour and the Green Party. But if it means free ice-cream for all, then I'm sure all will turn out well. *deep sigh of resignation*
ReplyDeleteI can understand the Green Party not being included on the ballot paper. Ballot papers are a waist of resources. On the bright side you might get a free duck. . .
DeleteIt must be worse for you in London you have both Cameron and Boris could it get worse (OK it could you might get a free Duck).
Oddly no one I know has voted Tory What's going on there then
ReplyDeleteAccording to a lot of people, no one voted for the Tories. Strange things are afoot I tell thee.
ReplyDeleteIndeed Miss Lily I can feel a conspiracy theory in the making, its like Top Gear all over again only bigger and with slightly less interesting personalities.
