The chipped cat and the orange room

The weather today was like Jekyll & Hyde, one moment the sun would be shining and the birds singing it was warm and all was well with the world then the next it was all hell let loose on the world. The wind would blow and big dark clouds would turn up and throw huge amounts of rain in our face, a bit like the bully at the beach kicking sand in our face (only it was rain).

This made plans very difficult although the first job today was too take Sooty the Cat to the vet it appears he may have been chipped with a faulty chip. That’s technology for you it all looks great until it is stuck inside a cat. Or in dad’s weather machines case until a cat is stuck inside the technology.  So Sooty the Cat (he’s Black by the way) had to be scanned. A bit like  a tub of ice cream in the supermarket; to ensure that he is not a tub of ice cream from the supermarket, but Sooty the Cat (a Black cat), luckily he is, and we all went home happy especially Sooty the Cat who thought if he was a tub of ice cream he would have been eaten. I think he was safe, none of us fancied cat flavoured ice cream much.

So I was back in that orange room yet again today doing things. I suspect some of you are wondering what is the orange room for, why would the Eccentric Child of Cyberspace be spending all his time in an orange room, moving stuff making desks and shelves, and generally turning his diary into a huge tale of screw drivers and wood saws. Well there are reasons, I have taken a little photograph of what is a clue, that’s clue not glue, although I did use a lot of wood glue today, plus some screws and a hammer, several screwdrivers and although I prefer not to admit it, a spirit level. I appear to have lost the knack of knowing what is level or square by doing it by eye, it may be down to the vary focal glasses these days and being as blind as a bat (the flying beasts not the cricket bat, although the flying beasts eat crickets and cricket bats cant see either).

I am at present helping the Ghost Writer do some stuff with computers that he needs to do before he goes to work tomorrow and is taking him much longer than he thought due to a dodgy USB memory stick. So to help I have used the wood glue to stick it in; that should help loads…….. …….. …….. …….. …….. …….AH apparently not…… DAMN. Mum has said IDIOT

  1. I wish I had an Orange room. I once had comic room that held all my comics and doubled up as a small recording room for music and a very poorly made audio drama. (dont ask)

I think I have fallen in love with that guitar though.

Can't wait to here what amazing things will be born of this Orange room...

    1. I do have a few guitars so an orange room will be important in the fullness of time, although for now such things are secret. No one reads comments much so my secret is safe..

That particular guitar is rather yummy, I ran into it in a shop in South Wales, it is rare to see a left handed guitar that pretty so I thought I had to have it. And now I do......

  2. I thought my ice cream was eXpensive last night at the store, at $6.49 for one gaLLon. But the previous gaLLon was technicaLLy more eXpensive because I made the mistake of getting "Butter Pecan" instead of "Butter Crunch", my favorite. So I am now off to try some new ice cream ...

    1. A gallon of ice cream Mr ESB, are you sure you are not getting fuel for the car and ice cream a bit confused.

I rather like the sound of Butter Pecan or Butter Crunch ice cream they both sound rather yummy.

At some point in the future you may be in a position to make your very own pineapple ice cream, that could be rather good toooooooo.

    2. Surprisingly, I find I have a tendency to love pineapple aLL by itself, but not mixed with or cooked in other item.

  3. Cooking!! You do cooking in the orange room! Am I right? Do I get a prize??
Actually I painted my bedroom that shade of orange...with yellow bookshelves...yeah I know, and I wasn't even high at the time.

Maybe Sooty's chip IS in dad's weather machine. That would explain the fluctuating conditions and the appearance of the swam of MASSIVE dragonflies we've had recently, who seem to have a death wish and keep dive bombing unsuspecting folks like heat seeking missiles.

No matter, as long as the weather is nice on Thursday, so that Spawn and I can enjoy the jazz festival we'll be going to.

    1. I hope you and the Lil man enjoy the Jazz festival on Thursday, does the Lil man like Jazz, that would be a turn up for the book. I had him down as more a Depeche Mode sort of chap....

And No Miss Lily cooking is not right, in fact cooking in an orange room seems wrong.

Those Giant Dragonflies sound WELL COOL to me, I think this might be an Olympic village effect didn't they plant wild meadows next to all the water and lakes etc. they created. that would do wonders for the wildlife population. It would be ironic if the Olympic legacy turned out to be plagues of Dragonflies and amphibians I am sure you and the Lil man would like that.

As for the yellow bookshelves I will say nothing

    2. I thank you for saying nothing about my yellow shelves, though actually the whole thing works really well and is quite lovely in summer.

We have had a vast injection of greenery to the area, which might explain the dragonfly invasion. Southern Hawkers I believe they're called and are the second largest type of dragonflies. Good thing I'm not scared of them, they're HUGE!

The Lil man has very eclectic tastes in music, from Procol Harem to 1950s-60s Ska. He's quite a cool little man.

  4. Does Sooty like the Vet? My Tiger doesn't mind, not does Cleo, but the newb, Oreo, not so much. He looks like Steve McQueen in "The Great Escape."

    1. Sooty the Cat likes the vet, or at least does not mind being at the vets. Sooty is a people cat so likes meeting people.

Heavy Harry the cat hates the vet, but he also hates strangers and will roll over and look cute then lash out at them as they go to stroke him.

A cat that looks like Steve McQueen in The Great Escape sounds very cool, particularly if it rides a motorbike too.

    2. Actually, Tiger is a biker. When we moved we rode the motorcycle 110 miles with Tiger. The only time he meowed was when we slowed down in traffic, but on the open road he was chillin' like a villain.

Tiger is a regular biker now and doesn't even mind the slow traffic when we take him to the vet. I want to get him a custom made biker vest but the fiance just wants to dress him in kitty cute clothes.

Can cats grow sideburns and a goat...er, cattee?

    3. That sounds like a cat with a rock and roll heart although with sideburns he will be confused with Bradley Wiggins who is a fan of the Mods.

But the cat could then be a MODdy (moggy) HAH HHAHAH HAH hah hah ahhah hah hah hahahh ha
