Poetry to get rid of folk at Dinner Parties

Tick tick tick
I can hear a ticking sound
Something is ticking but I don’t know what
What manner of device is making a noise it should not
Tick tick ticking, I cant tell from where
And no one else seems to care
But it is out there somewhere in the dark
Like an annoying distant persistent dogs bark
Ticking tick tick tick in my mind
So I will go and hunt until I find
That tick before it drives me mad
Like an old grandfather clock
But with no cheery chime
Tick tick tick all the time
I had no plans to write a ticking rhyme
But it is there ticking in my mind
The same constant tick we find
In the darkness of every mind
But the tick tick ticking just ticks away
Ticks all morning ticks all day
But was that a click
Not a tick
Who can say
Tick tick click click
Tick tick
Tick
Click
Tick tick click
I can hear a ticking sound
Something is ticking but I don’t know what
What manner of device is making a noise it should not
Tick tick ticking,
Tick tick ticking,
Tick tick ticking,
Tick tick ticking,
Tick tick ticking,
Tick tick ticking,
Tick tick ticking,
Tick tick tick
Tick tick tick
Tick tick tick
Tick tick tick
Tick tick tick
Tick

People say I’m mad you know very very mad

But I can still hear it
Ticking
It will not go

Unlike all my dinner guests
Who have flown away in
Flying Nests?

  1. I read youR poeM backwards (complete lines with a significant pause) and I aM not sure which version I liked betteR.

I found an interesting device to share my Internet over to my other commercial property. It is produced by Ubiquiti and has a part number PBE-5AC-500.

    1. Sorry, I have been terribly busy at work lately and haven't done much blog time. I am on a bit of a break today. I recently updated an older Windows 7 Toshiba laptop to Windows 10, then added more memory, and finally upgraded the hard drive to a solid state drive. It all went surprisingly smooth, as I had never worked on the hardware of a laptop or ever went to a new op sys on a laptop.

    2. I happy updated my windows 7 laptop to windows 10, but I have failed twice now with a works desktop. But it did have some issues before and it just does not wish to play. I have also now read the poem backwards Maybe I should write one that reads the same forwards and backwards that would be interesting.

I am now officially almost retired as I no longer work, but do have two and a half years to go until I officially get to retire. I plan to try and live a very quiet life hiding from the world a bit and waving a pointy stick at it if it gets too close

    3. OOoooo yes next Monday I get to hand that desktop back to the office and eat cake and runaway. . . I have said if they get really stuck after that I will go and talk nicely to the computers but only in emergencies.

    4. I am feeling more confident about upgrading my Windows 8.1 All-In-One computer to Windows 10, now that I know what steps are involved with getting my main 3 pieces of business design and machine control software to work with Win 10.

  2. Er...have you thought that it's your clear insanity that got rid of the guests rather than the poem Mr Z? Just saying...

Very Sir Edgar Allan Poe-esque. I enjoyed this one immensely.
Ooh and I forgot to ask, are you taking part in this year's torture fest this April Mr Z?

    1. I am still pondering the A to Z Miss Lily, I am finding it hard to keep up the momentum of blogging at present. Every now and again I sort of feel I am blogging into a dark void of darkness with few smiling faces. . . But I might do it and if I do it will be poetry based this year.

As for being insane, well sadly I am a very normal chap indeed, well I think so. In fact I am probably the most normal chap there is by a long way in Britain today.

  3. I find the best way to get rid of unwanted guests is to be a grumpy gus.

It's best to start around 10-12 years before they are due to arrive.

It may seem like a lot of effort but the results speak for themselves!
    hahahahahahaa...sob....

    1. I totally agree Mr H and luckily enough the world keeps throwing stuff at me that makes being grumpy very easy.
